Grand Civil War Ball Saturday, April 10, 2010 Doors open at 7 pm and the dance begins promptly at 8 pm
Join us for a delightful evening in the Grand Ball Room at Scranton Cultural Center at the Masonic Temple as we travel back in time to re-enact a mid-19th century formal ball. Dance the night away with live music by vintage dance band, Spare Parts, as they play authentic music from the Civil War era including polkas, waltzes, schottische and several reels such as the Virginia Reel and Snowball Reel. It's fun! It's easy! All dances will be taught, so no prior dance experience is necessary. If you are still a little nervous about dancing, then attend the pre-ball vintage dance workshop held earlier in the day - Click here for dance workshop information. Period dress or dress blues are admired, but not required. Two types of tickets are available this year: Spectator tickets are available for those who would like to watch but not actually participate as dancers.
