Grand Civil War Ball and Supper

Saturday, April 13, 2019

Doors open at 6 PM
Dancing from 7 PM until midnight
Supper available from 10 PM to 11 PM

Join us for a delightful evening in the ballroom of the historic Century Club as we travel back in time to reenact a mid-19th century formal ball. Dance the night away with live music by vintage dance band, Spare Parts, as they play authentic music from the Civil War era including polkas, waltzes, schottische and several reels such as the Virginia Reel and Snowball Reel. Vintage dance instructor, Martha Griffin, will precept the ball. She will offer a brief instruction before each set dance and then lead you through the sequences that comprise each dance. It's fun! It's easy! All dances will be taught, so no prior dance experience is necessary.

New for 2019, we are offering an optional Victorian themed buffet supper mid-way through the Ball. It was not uncommon for the social elite of the Gilded Age to dance, eat, and party all night - not winding down until the very early morning hours of the next day! In honor of our 15th year, we decided to extend the night and add an optional buffet supper and additional hour of dancing to the program! So why not take a break from dancing, have supper, and then dance some more!

Period dress or dress blues/grays are admired, but not required.
Formal dress for both men and ladies is required.
Light refreshments will be served during intermission.

Ball tickets are $35 per person or $60 per couple.
The buffet supper is an additional $30 per person (advance registration is required for supper).

All tickets are non-refundable.
